Farm to Fable for the activism community
Time: Saturday, September 16, 2017 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
My new activism presentation draws on some ideas introduced in my recent book, Farm to Fable: The Fictions of Our Animal-Consuming Culture, to provide grassroots activists with a set of insights that I hope will help them navigate and better understand the complex social interactions we often confront. Specifically, the presentation looks at two major spheres of influence on us: the animal movement, in which a handful of non profit organizations have become primary influencers, and society at large, or what I refer to as our “animal-consuming culture,” which is dominated and scripted by the animal exploitation industries. We will examine and discuss common tactics that society uses to negatively frame us and how to best challenge them as well as what can be our greatest sources of inspiration and empowerment. — Robert Grillo
The presentation will be followed by a lively discussion. This event is free and open to the public; however, seating is limited and RSVP is required. PLEASE SHARE the event page!
